Our Committee

Our current committee was formed at 2025's AGM held on 27th November 2025. As per our constitution, it consists of the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer (together “the Executive Officers of the Club”) and up to twelve elected members all of whom are members of the Club.

Sharon Hudson

Chair

Artistic Swimming Coordinator

I am Sharon and I am the Chair of Rykneld Swimming Club. I have been involved in the Club since 2014 when my daughter Mia started doing Artistic (then known as Synchronised) Swimming. I soon started helping poolside and as Team Manager, then was asked to join the committee as a voice for Synchro, and in the usual ‘careful what you say yes to’ habit of clubs run by volunteers, was soon helping Head Coach Alyssa run the squad – doing all the behind the scenes organisation so she could focus on coaching, and then building and mentoring our brilliant team of 8 coaches (of which she still does a fantastic job). After 8  years on the committee as Synchro Coordinator, when Pam had to step down as Chair in Summer 2024, I agreed to step up to cover for her temporarily, and it stuck! I try to be a fair and impartial Chair and believe in teamwork and transparency being the key to good governance and we have a wonderful team on the Rykneld Committee. My daughter Mia is now a coach for the Under 18s and a Masters swimmer, so it looks like I’ll be around for some time to come!

Judie Maylofi-Rebaudi

Secretary

Affiliation Coordinator

I first dove into the club as a Masters swimmer and never looked back. Now, with grandchildren making waves in the pool, swimming has truly become a family tradition. When not supporting the club behind the scenes, you may find me helping on pool side or sneaking in a few lengths. I am dedicated to keeping the club a fun and welcoming place for swimmers of all ages.

Katie Westwood

Treasurer

Membership Secretary

I took on the role of Treasurer and website coordinator after Rykneld's AGM in November 2024. My daughters swim competitively for Rykneld, and I wanted to do my bit to support the club they love.

This year I have taken on membership too.

I'm always available by e-mail or in person to answer any finance or membership questions parents may have. In my day job, I'm a School Business Manager in a local school, and hold several school governance positions.

I have also recently completed my training to be a J1 official, allowing me to support the club by officiating at Open Meets.

Kirsty Morley

Vice Chair

Volunteers Coordinator

Press Officer

After serving on the committee as Volunteers Coordinator last year, I’m delighted to have stepped into the role of Vice Chair. With my son Rex swimming competitively for the club, becoming more involved felt like a natural progression and a wonderful way to support both him and the wider swimming community. You’ll often find me around CCA, and I’m always happy to be approached for a chat, whether it’s to answer questions, listen to concerns, or simply connect with fellow parents. I'm still your go to as Parent Liaison too!

Outside of the club, I work as a Dental Hygiene/Therapist, treating both adults and children across the NHS and private sector just outside Chesterfield. Having dedicated over 20 years to this profession, I remain deeply passionate about helping people improve their oral health and wellbeing. When I’m not working or at the pool, I enjoy keeping active through netball, taking long walks with my two dogs, and unwinding with a book. I value teamwork, community spirit, and open communication, and I look forward to contributing to the continued success of the club in my role as Vice Chair.

Rae McAlpine

Welfare Officer

Hi I’m Rae and I’ve recently taken on the role of Welfare Officer.  I have a background in supporting children, with nearly two decades of secondary school teaching under my belt.

My son joined Rykneld this year and has rapidly improved. I am very grateful to the team for nurturing him as a swimmer and I wanted to give back to our wonderful swimming club.

When not at work, I spend most of my week being a “mum taxi”. During training sessions, I can be found in the cafe usually with my laptop open and a coffee in hand, looking slightly frazzled! Please feel free to pop over to speak to me face to face or email me with any questions or concerns.

Amy Roberts

Fixtures Secretary

Head Coach - Swimming

Rykneld Swimming Club runs in my blood; my granddad was one of the founding members and my mum was also a member of the club from an early age and is still an active member.  I started swimming for Rykneld at the age of 7, where I fell in love with the sport. Throughout the years I started to volunteer and help with the learn to swim programme where I found my love of teaching the younger generation - I became a qualified Level 2 teacher. While I was at University I was Learn to Swim Co-Ordinator and oversaw the programme. Whilst doing this I became a Level 1 coach shortly followed by my Level 2 qualification. Since becoming a qualified Level 2 coach I fell in love with the sport all over again and saw what coaching could give to these young swimmers. I believe that every swimmer should be given the opportunity to thrive within the sport; both swimming and para swimming. I continue to help guide and coach our swimmers with swimmers to reach Midland level.

  My qualifications include:

  • Level 2 Swimming Coach

  • Level 1 Swimming Coach

  • Level 2 Swimming Teacher

 • Level 1 Swimming Teacher

  • Technical Swimming Official - Starter

  • Artistic Swimming Teacher Level 1

  • Deliverer of Swim England Team Manager Courses.

Head Coach Artistic Swimming

I first started with Rykneld SC as a ‘speed’ swimmer at the age of 6, before transitioning to Artistic Swimming in 2011 at the age of 14. I fell in love with the sport extremely quickly and was soon developed to a national level by our previous Head Coach, Jean Timmons, before being encouraged to join a regional hub designed to bring swimmers together into a competitive team who would otherwise be isolated. When I retired from competing, I naturally pursued coaching and passed my Artistic Swimming Coach (Level 2) qualification in 2018.  I became Head Coach in 2019 and have since had the pleasure of growing the club fourfold alongside a fantastic and dedicated group of 8 coaches who I am very proud to lead and mentor.  Of course, I am passionate about Synchro in itself; I love the intricacies of choreography, the artistry and I respect the physicality it requires. But most importantly I am dedicated to inspire and encourage both our swimmers and coaches to progress to the highest standard of which they are capable and learn important life skills that will help them succeed in the future.

Artistic Swimming Coach

Swimming Assistant Head Coach

I joined the artistic side of the club when I was 10 and swam all the way up to national level to compete in Combo Cup (where we won gold). When I reached masters age I then started to volunteer as a coach and loved it so much I decided to do my swimming teacher qualifications. I started teaching Learn to Swim and when our pool closed I started assisting our Head Coach Amy with running squad sessions. She encouraged me to do my Level 1 coaching qualification and I now coach the junior squad under her mentorship.

 My qualifications include:

Level 1 Swim Teacher

Level 2 Swim Teacher

Level 1 Artistic Swim Coach

Level 1 Swimming Coach

Team Manager

Mia Hudson

Fixtures Secretary

Artistic Swimming Coach

I joined Rykneld’s Artistic Swimming Squad in 2014 at the age of 10, and immediately became addicted to the sport! I proceeded all the way through the Under 18 section of the club, with my last four years in the role of Club Captain, competing (and medalling!) at national competitions. I am now swimming in our Masters section, and have also been coaching since 2021. I have completed both my Level 1 Assistant and Level 2 Artistic Swimming Coach qualifications, and I am also a Level 1 Artistic Swimming Judge. I am now on the committee as Artistic Swimming Competition Secretary, in charge of the competition entries and admin. In my non-swimming spare time I work in retail and am learning to ice (figure) skate as a hobby.

Wendy Ellis

Vice Treasurer

My daughter joined the artistic swimming group in 2021 when she was 10 years old.  She has loved learning new skills, making new friends and having the experience of competing.  I joined the committee in September 2024 to support the club and hold the role of vice treasurer. I have worked in the NHS for the past 27 years and have held senior leadership and safeguarding roles in this time.

Lee Morley

Committee member without portfolio

Hello everyone, I’m Lee Morley, proud dad of Rex.

I spent 24 years serving with the Airborne Forces in the British Army, retiring as a Sergeant Major. Sport has always been a big part of my life, and one of my proudest moments was representing the Army in cross country. Those experiences taught me the value of staying active from a young age, and it’s something I’m passionate about encouraging in others.

Watching Rex work hard in training and achieve his goals has been inspiring, and it’s one of the reasons I’ve volunteered to join the committee. Through my experience, I believe I can add real value in helping the club continue to grow and achieve even more together. I’m proud to support a club that helps young swimmers build confidence, discipline, and a love for sport.

Sarah Nuttall

Committee member without portfolio

Hi I’m Sarah, I’ve recently joined the ever- growing committee at Rykneld Swimming Club and I’m looking forward to what the role brings.

My daughter joined the swimming club in 2024, loved it straight away and now swims competitively.

I have completed the Team Manager Level 1 and Safeguarding in Aquatics courses with Swim England. I look forward to my role within the committee and working alongside you all.

Helen Inger

Committee member without portfolio

My daughter initially joined the artistic swimming group, where she learnt new skills and gained more confidence. She now also swims competitively for Rykneld, where she has made a whole new group of friends. Due to me ferrying her around to training and competitions I have decided to join the committee to get a feel of how things run behind the scenes and to be able to offer support to those who may also try to juggle both disciplines.
